History of Area:

Killasmeestia is a small village between Borris in Ossory / Errill and Rathdowney. It has a long history of ecclesiastical and education, with the church in the area for hundreds of years. Now has 150 year church of the Assumption, Killadooley National School and Killadooley Childcare as the main buildings.

Tidy Towns Information:

Killasmeestia Tidy Towns was established in 2009, the small committee has achieved great success in a short time; with various awards and great co-operation from all in the locality.  The Village has become an unexpected treat and steadily gaining marks each year in the National Tidy Towns Competition. Killasmeestia Tidy Towns has gained friends at home and abroad, including other Tidy Town groups and descendants of the village.

The Tidy Towns Group also maintain the graveyard and church house as well the normal Tidy Towns Events.
