History of Area:

Ballylinan is mainly a townsland area with no real industrialization, although the building of many new houses developments has changed the area dramatically and increased the population. The name means “Lynan’s Town” through exactly who Lynan was is now forgotten. William Russell Grace 1832-1904, the first Catholic Mayor of New York was born in Ballylinan.

We have a small committee who work well, we have won many awards at local level and one at national level a few years ago

Additional Information:

All the new housing developments have their own residents committee and carry out great work in their estates, they are all kept to a very high standard in keeping with the existing ones.
